Daily Inspection of Fire Pumps
Developing a high-performance fire pump requires not only quality assurance from the manufacturer but also proper post-purchase maintenance and practical operation by the buyer to ensure long-term service life and deliver sufficient benefits to various venues. Inspect and adjust the packing in the fire pump control cabinet, replacing it as required. Adjust the mechanical seal (refer to the manufacturer's instructions provided with the pump or consult the manufacturer). During maintenance of horizontal fire pumps, fault diagnosis is a critical step. Below are common issues and corrective measures to guide targeted troubleshooting. For automatic inspection cabinets with volute pumps, the centerline of the impeller outlet (i.e., the midline of the outlet width) must align with the volute inlet centerline. If misalignment occurs, adjust by adding shims between the impeller hub and shaft shoulder. Maintain both centerlines within 0.5 mm tolerance. For high-specific-speed pumps, slight deviations have minimal impact. However, for medium-to-low specific-speed pumps with narrow impeller outlets (e.g., 10 mm width), a 1 mm deviation from the volute centerline significantly affects pump performance. After adjustment, it is advisable to control the deviation between the two centerlines (impeller and volute) within 5% of the impeller outlet width. Proper maintenance can effectively prevent extensive damage.
When repurchasing fire pumps, manufacturers typically provide training on maintenance procedures. Buyers should document these methods and not neglect them due to inconvenience. Many issues domestically stem from inadequate upkeep, which can effectively extend pump lifespan and enhance its value. What aspects of fire pump maintenance require regular attention? Let's examine the situation in China.
First, check battery acidity and ensure the electrolyte level remains above the top of the panel.
Second, inspect the fire pump for oil leaks, particularly around the water inlet connections. If leaks are detected, address them immediately to prevent functional impairment.
Third, monitor the water tank. Ensure sufficient water volume at all times. When levels drop, replenish with tap water or clean river water. Avoid using groundwater whenever possible, as it tends to form scale deposits that impair pump operation.
Check the oil level, primarily in the oil pan. If the oil level is insufficient—meaning it falls below the specified mark—add oil appropriately to ensure it rises above the level line.
If encountering issues that cannot be effectively resolved, promptly contact the fire pump manufacturer to discuss management measures or seek timely analysis and repair from qualified professionals.
