Manufacturers should keep the fire pump standby to ensure the main switch of the fire emergency pump functions normally. During maintenance of horizontal fire pumps, diagnosing pump failures is a critical step. Below are several common faults and their solutions to help target fire pump diagnostics effectively. Inspect and adjust the packing in the fire pump control cabinet, replacing it as required. Adjust the mechanical seal (refer to the manufacturer's instructions provided with the pump or consult the manufacturer). For deep well fire pumps, remove the plug to allow excess grease to drain automatically. For oil-lubricated pumps, drain oil to the correct level. Primary/standby switches primarily operate in two ways: initial startup can be controlled via current signals, while pressure signals can be used to manage alarms.

If one motor shorts out, it may trip due to excessive current, causing the power supply to automatically switch to the other pump motor. The fire pump motor stops running, and the other pump begins operation. The pressure signal control method primarily involves installing relevant specialized equipment at the main outlet.

2. Install electric pressure switches. Based on pressure switch signals, determine the main and standby switches. If normal, the control box receives the command and any pump can start operation. However, if the pressure switch reading fails to reach the set value, the control box switches to another pump and restarts it.
