Installation and Maintenance of Fire-Rated Constant-Pressure Pumps
Constant-pressure tangential fire pumps feature smooth operation, high reliability, dependable sealing, easy maintenance, low noise, and long service life. Recently, they have been increasingly adopted by Chinese enterprises for use in high-rise buildings and civil industrial structures. Horizontal fire pumps: During maintenance, diagnosing pump failures is critical. Below are common issues and solutions to guide targeted troubleshooting. Vertical fire pumps: During maintenance, diagnosing pump failures is critical. Below are common issues and solutions to guide targeted troubleshooting. For deep well fire pumps, remove the plug to allow excess grease to drain automatically. For oil-lubricated pumps, drain oil to the correct level. Below, let's examine constant pressure tangential pumps and how to ensure proper installation and maintenance.
Constant Pressure Tangential Fire Pump Installation and Design Specifications:
1. Installation lines should not bear the pump's weight or risk damaging the pump;
2. The pump and motor form an integrated structure. The manufacturer has pre-aligned them, eliminating the need for adjustment during installation, thus facilitating setup;
3. Ensure foot bolts are securely tightened and periodically inspected to prevent loosening, which could affect pump performance during startup vibration;
4. During pump installation, carefully inspect the flow path for any obstructions (e.g., rocks, metal, sand) that could damage the pump during operation;
5. Install pressure gauges near the pump inlet and outlet for operational monitoring and maintenance. For high-head pumps, install a check valve before the outlet gate to prevent water hammer during sudden power outages.
6. Ensure the pump operates under optimal conditions during power outages to extend its service life.
7. Suction pumps must be equipped with foot valves. Suction pipes should avoid excessive bends and must be leak-free to prevent performance degradation.
8. Before installing system piping, rotate the pump's rotor components. No friction noise or binding should occur; otherwise, disassemble the pump for inspection.
Maintenance of Constant-Pressure Tangential Fire Pumps
First, operators of constant-pressure tangential fire pump systems must strictly maintain the integrity of inlet pipe 1. No leakage shall occur. 2. Operation under cavitation conditions is prohibited. 3. Avoid starting the pump at high flow rates. 4. Regularly inspect motor output current to ensure it does not exceed rated voltage/current. 5. Exercise extreme caution during pump operation to prevent accidents. 6. Lubricate each pump bearing every 5000 operating hours. 7. For pumps in long-term operation, increased noise and vibration due to mechanical wear may occur. Shut down immediately for inspection if necessary, replace wear parts as needed, and schedule major overhauls annually. II. Mechanical Seals 1. Maintenance and repair of mechanical seals must ensure clean operation free of solid contaminants. 2. Avoid dry grinding when mechanical seals are non-operational. 3. Before startup, rotate the pump (motor) several times to prevent seal damage from sudden start-up. 4. Seal leakage tolerance is 3 drops/minute; exceed this limit and repair immediately.
